Story by Superior Auto Institute / www.nodents.com
It is funny how the government looks to the people now that other
contributing economic factors are on the rise helping the economy increase.
The government now waits for consumer spending to rise since everything else
is; so that the economy will continue to increase for the better. What I do
not understand is how the government figures that the consumer spending is
going to start doing better with so many people being laid off from their
jobs.
It is true that many people have been helped when it comes to finding a job,
but the few people helped with finding a job are just a tip of the boat of
the unemployed people who are still hoping for something to come their way.
If American's are unemployed how can consumer spending possibly go up?
Consumer spending fell by 0.5 percent last month which was the largest drop
since December after August's drop of 1.4 percent. This drop has had an
effect on the stocks knocking down many of them by several points such as
the Dow Jones by 235 points.
Consumer spending averagely counts for two-thirds of the US economy
activity. Consumer spending was raised through-out the summer months by the
"Cash for Clunkers" program which helped many people trade in their old cars
for newer more fuel efficient cars. Now that the rebate money had been used
and it's gone, consumer spending is finding itself low again which certainly
makes sense that it would be.
It all comes down to unemployment; American's do not have disposable incomes
at this point. Most American's are barely paying their mortgages or able to
pay their healthcare bills. A new report is supposed to surface next Friday
which will state that unemployment has risen to 9.9 percent this month.
When it comes to the economy, it will not get any better until unemployment
is solved. Of course there is not a magic wand that can be waved giving
every American the perfect paying job, but there are trades to be learned
