Dealers Are Where The Money Is At, Right?

Its easy, right? You park in the marked stalls.
You exit your work truck, business card in hand. You casually stroll the lot like Frank Sinatra in one of his early films, taking a lite gander at the vehicles on the line, looking for paint, dent or other damage, prior to your big executive meeting with the person in charge.

Yeah, it IS easy. Its not only easy for you guy, its easy for EVERYONE else too.

That means its easy to LOSE those accounts, and its easy for a lot of people to call on those accounts. Yet everyone in the Paintless Dent Repair and recon business loves loves loves dealers.
I don’t get it. They don’t pay exceptionally well, they can be rude, and they can be disloyal, taking in new techs and companies at the drop of a hat. You also have to wait 30-45 days to get paid, and you usually have to get a P.O. (purchase order) and possibly an R.O.
Oh yeah, and most work might need to get approved prior to repairs.

So, why all the fuss and mess?

Well the upsides are attractive. A typical dealer can dish out $2000 of Paintless Dent Removal work a month without breaking a sweat, $5000 in bumper repair and $6500+ in body repair. So the #’s are there. And its very easy to get these types of accounts, relative to retail clients, auction or rental clients.

But to answer the question that is the title of this novel, are dealers the place where money is at? Yes they are, BUT they are not the ONLY place.

Keep that in mind when building your business. It is better the have a mix of clients. Retail, dealers, auction and rental clients, mixed in with some of the other sub niches will provide a much higher rate of profits and more stable source of income, making business much more profitable and simple.

So service your dealers, but strike out for other gold too!
