Painters
make mistakes. Heck, we all
make mistakes, right?
But some mistakes cost money.
And time. And time is money,
right? So make that money
times 2..
So if you are a Paint Repair
Tech, you want to AVOID mistakes
right?
So tell me- why do so many
paint repair techs continue
to make mistakes
I cant
answer that question..but
I can highlite common mistakes,
and possibly how to stay well
away from them. Because ultimately,
if you cant be on your game,
you will be absorbed by the
market. And absorption hurts.
It hurts bad.
So, onto the show!
1) Detailing where or near
painting. This is a big painter
no-no.
2) Prepping and finishing
with 80 grit. If you dont
finish out your prep, no primer
is going to hide the sand
scratches. Finish your work
3) Spot putty neglect. Yeah,
those air bubbles in your
filler dont look to
good, do they? ..unless you
like body repair that resembles
your 16th birthday photos
after a bad acne breakout
4) Painting without checking
your color. For petes sake,
take a swab of your mixed
color and swipe it on the
car out in the sunlight if
possible
does it match
or not>? Hint: DONT
LIE.
5) Painting and prepping without
a mask. Sure..you have plenty
of brain cells
right?
Just go ask Richard Pryor
or Muhammed Ali..theyll
tell you the same thing.
And there are more.,..,but
above the answers are right
there
you can see them
in between the words, but
more importantly
you
need to NOT CUT CORNERS when
painting, and prepping. IF
you do, no you dont
save time. No, you dont
save money. You DO lose clients,
you DO lose time and you DO
lose money.
So- DONT SHORTCUT.
Happy Pushing!
