PDR MARKET SURVEY

Someone just spent over $150,000 to determine the current and future market for Paintless Dent Repair...Care to know what the findings were?

First, to give the facts here a little credibility, a mutli-billion dollar conglomerate took care of the tab for this one.  Quite frankly, we would have had no idea that the survey even existed would it not have been for an anonymous company Tipster!

When a multi-billion dollar company buys another company, it is always standard issue to do due diligence, and someone did just that. If you scroll through some major online Job wanted sites (Monster, etc) you can find many cities that this company is hiring for. But wait, I've heard the PDR market is saturated in many cities already, so how is this so?
Here's some facts:

The US PDR market has certain areas of maturation, and dealer market competition in some areas can be thick. (see South Western and South Eastern US for examples)But what about the Northern states, both West and East? Are they wide open frontiers? No, but are they saturated? Not hardly. Many companies are hiring and filling postions from Southern California at the Mexican border to the north eastern tip of Maine. How?
Let's first examine a portion of the PDR Market
(a specific number of sub-niches have been ommited for current Superior customers only-please call for details)

1)
Dealers. This is the most popular target for the budding PDR Tech. Is it the best or biggest? No. Easiest to locate and market to? perhaps..Saturated? Many used car departments are very competitive, with concentrations in the south. Best method for penetrating dealers is to simply target other departments within the dealership, prove your worthiness, and cross over into the used car department

2) Rental Agencies. This is a growing and very large PDR market segment. Biggest? No, but very big! Easy to market to? No. This segment takes specific knowledge of the RAC Market, with strict adherance to rules and guidelines. Saturated? Hardly.

3) Auto Auctions. This market is absolutely massive. Easy to market to? No. Easy to service? You bet! 1000's of cars run through the auctions every week, rain or shine. Saturated? Hardly again. Dent Wizard has a good hold on some of the big boys in the game, but many others still are prime and waiting. Remember: the customer chooses who he/she wants to use for PDR, NOT the auction!

4) Hail Repair. This market is fast becoming a PDR Route Tech favorite, with many route techs tossing their dealer accounts and hitting the road for 5-6 months a year, collecting six figure-plus incomes and then taking the remainder of the year off for rest and relaxation. This segment is not saturated, but is becoming very popular, with main focus on hail damaged dealers and rental cars. Easy to market to? Not at all! Easy to service? No. Hail damaged cars can average 8-16 hours each. Lucrative? The average PDR Tech in 2000 grossed over $1000 per day, by our own account. The best segment of this market is the retail and insurance customer, as they are by far the largest portion of the segment and provide the best returns. Currently, the auto insurance industry is adjusting most hail damage at PDR rates, not conventional rates, shutting out the regular bondo n' paint shop from repairing the hail damaged vehicles, leaving them ripe for picking by competant PDR Techs. This has fueled the hail segment with an even greater need for competant PDR Techs. As of this writing, Superior PDR is now a State Farm Insurance Preferred Hail Repair vendor!

5) The Private Segment/Customer (aka retail customer) This is THE largest market, with a very low penetration from any company. Easy to market to? NO! Easy to service? Of course! How many people do you see on the road each day with dents? There are many segments of the retail market that are ripe and very rewarding when properly marketed to. Saturated? No retail area in the USA is remotely saturated or captured.

Some recent market findings: The largest PDR company worldwide determined the PDR market is worth (in 2000) $10 Billion, with only 15% realized. It was concluded that the market was still in a strong growth cycle with years of growth to come.

A multi-million dollar corporation is not going to spend Millions of $$$ on a whim. They confirmed the PDR market has legs, with many years of fruitful returns for those who choose this industry.
